Anti-Wrinkle Injections
With real noticeable results and no recovery time, it's no surprise that anti-wrinkle injections have been chosen by millions of women and men around the world to treat facial lines and wrinkles. At Eden Medical Aesthetics we recommend treatment with Merz Bocouture® or Allergan Botox®, both excellent anti-wrinkle medications that achieve outstanding natural results.

Wrinkles caused by facial expression can appear around the eyes, between the brow and on the forehead. These wrinkles can cause concern and often give an aged or tired appearance. Anti-wrinkle injections can have remarkable results in improving the appearance of the skin and also enhance feelings of health and wellbeing. We can also treat lower face muscles to make subtle changes to the appearance of the lips, chin, and jawline.
Our team are highly skilled Medical Aesthetic Practitioners and will ensure that results achieved are natural and rejuvenating. After an in-depth consultation and assessment, an individual treatment plan will be developed. Expertly placed Botulinum Toxin injections can also be used to treat "Gummy Smile" and “Bruxism - teeth grinding”.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often should you have Anti-wrinkle Injections?
Typically, the effects of anti-wrinkle injections last for up to three to four months.
Therefore, the recommended treatment is once every three to four months.
Nonetheless, if your facial muscles begin to train themselves to contract less, the
period of time for each treatment may be extended.
Do anti-wrinkle injections hurt?
Any injection can hurt, but the needles used for anti-wrinkle injections are very small,
so pain is usually minimal. The area can be numbed with a topical anaesthetic cream
or cold pack 10-20 minutes before the injections are given, so you may not feel much
pain, if any.
Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?
Botulinum Toxin as a muscle relaxant has an excellent and long safety record of use
in medicine. It has been used successfully in adults and children in a variety of
medical conditions over the last 35 years. It has been used cosmetically to treat
facial wrinkles for about 30 years and has become one of the most popular and
frequently used cosmetic treatments.
How long do the effects last?
It can take about 2-14 days to see the full effects after the initial treatment. The
cosmetic effects can last up to six months but typically range from three to four
months. Eventually most people require repeat treatment as the wrinkles reappear.
However, in some treated areas, the wrinkles may return less severe after repeated
treatments as the unconscious muscle contraction habit is broken.
We offer all our patients a free two week follow up appointment to assess the effect
of treatment and administer any further treatments if necessary.
Are there any side effects to anti-wrinkle injections?
Most people find that the injections cause only mild local pain and tenderness.
Immediately after the injection there may be mild swelling at the injection site which
usually subsides within 48 hours. Slight bruising is also possible. Side effects of
these treatments are extremely rare. Occasionally, the treatment may relax nearby
muscle groups causing temporary drooping of the eyebrow or eyelids. This may last
for a few weeks but will resolve with time. As with any medicine an allergic-reaction
may occur, this is however quite rare. Conversely there may be some unintended
benefits in some people such as easing of tension type headaches as the muscles in
the forehead relax.
Botulinum toxin has been used for over 30 years and does not appear to cause any
negative long-term effects. Once administered the toxin typically leaves the body
within 3-4 days, although, as with any medical procedure, it is important to seek
advice from a qualified professional beforehand.
How often can I have treatment?
When the effect of the anti-wrinkle injection wears off the wrinkles will always return
to their pre-treatment state. Treatments can be repeated at a minimum of three-
monthly intervals, but the effects may last longer for some individuals, especially if
they have had previous treatments to the same area.
