Intralipotherapy

Face and Body Fat Dissolving Injections

Intralipotherapy is used to treat pockets of fat that are difficult to remove through diet and exercise alone, it is not a weight loss solution. It is a form of lipolysis, a non-invasive treatment which accelerates the body’s natural fat removal process.

Body Contouring

Eden Medical Aesthetics uses Deso Face® and Deso Body® with the active ingredient of deoxycholic acid (an FDA approved active ingredient) – a bile acid which naturally emulsifies and solubilises dietary fats in the intestine. It is a cytolytic medication which means it helps break down a specific type of cell; in this case fat cells, when injected under the skin to give a slimmer and firmer outcome.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Intralipotherapy help to lose weight?

No. Intralipotherapy is not intended to cause weight loss, but only to reduce stubborn pockets of fat. Patients are advised to persevere with a healthy diet after this treatment, as this will help them maintain the balance of fatty acids and metabolise what is released.

Is Intralipotherapy suitable for me?

Intralipotherapy is not suitable if you:

• Have diabetes.
• Have liver or kidney disease.
• Have active skin problems in the area to be treated.
• Are taking blood thinning medicine e.g., warfarin.

Who can carry out Intralipotherapy fat dissolving injections?

Intralipotherapy should only be administered by fully trained medical professionals such as a doctor or a nurse.

How does it work?

The area of concern is injected with Deso to liquefy (and permanently destroy) fat cells, which drain naturally through the body’s lymphatic system over the course of a few weeks.

What areas can Intralipotherapy be used on?

Deso is separated into concentrations for the face and the body and is an effective treatment for double chins, love handles, inner arms, stomach fat, inner thighs, knees, and more.

Are Intralipotherapy results permanent?

While the body can regenerate fat cells – the process is very slow. So once fat cells are removed from a localized area, your results are as good as permanent. However, if you do not continue to maintain a healthy lifestyle, then your body will put on weight in other areas of your body where fat cells remain.

How many treatments do I need?

Usually, a course of 2 to 8 treatments, 4 weeks apart will be required. Some people may see significant results after 1 or 2 sessions. Treatment for fat pockets underneath the neck and chin, for example, may require 2 to 3 treatments. Fat pockets on the hips and thighs may require 8 treatments. The number of treatments needed is dependent on the amount of fat to remove and will be discussed at your consultation.

Will Intralipotherapy hurt?

As with all injectable treatments, many patients feel a little discomfort. However, it is generally considered a tolerable treatment. Deso is delivered with a local anesthetic for patient comfort.

Are there any side effects?

Deso can result in inflammation, swelling, and redness at the injection site. The treated area may also feel sensitive following your appointment. You may continue with day-to-day activities and physical activities as usual.

What do I need to do after treatment?

Patients should avoid hot showers and baths on the day of the treatment and need to wear a compression garment for 72 hours afterward. However, you can continue day-to-day activities and exercise as normal.

How long will it take to see results from the Desobody treatment?

Typically after two to three weeks, you will start to see the positive effects of your treatment. Due to the nature of the injection, the solution requires time to take effect, gradually reducing the fat in the affected areas. Each patient’s timeframe will differ, but this general guideline will normally apply. Please note that a continued course of treatment is required for optimal results.
