Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Hair Loss Treatment

(Platelet-rich-plasma) is an increasingly popular way to treat hair loss. It can be used for individuals suffering with hormonal or non-hormonal hair loss. It involves taking plasma from your blood and injecting it into your scalp to stimulate hair growth. The procedure is relatively painless and requires zero recovery time.

PRP Hair Loss Treatment

PRP is a component of our blood which contains growth factors. PRP enables our bodies to regenerate and heal. It is for this reason that PRP can stimulate hair growth and is often used as part of skin regeneration treatment due to its healing properties.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the treatment work?

To obtain the PRP from your body we will need to collect a small blood sample from your arm, similar to a routine blood test when you visit your GP. The blood sample is then placed in a centrifuge that spins the blood at a very high speed. The action of the centrifuge separates the PRP from other blood components.
We then inject The PRP along with Pluryal® products into the scalp through a series of superficial and relatively painless injections.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment itself takes roughly 45-60 minutes.

Does the procedure hurt?

The injections are superficial and are delivered using a very small needle. We can use a topical anaesthetic on the area to be treated, however most of the time this is not necessary, and the treatment causes little discomfort.

Are there any side effects?

The treatment does not require any downtime. Patients may experience minimal bruising and some tenderness over the treatment area, but this will subside quickly.

How long until I can see the results?

The treatment is designed to stop hair loss from the first treatment. However, your hair needs time to regrow, which can take time depending on your hair cycle.
We recommend you have 1 treatment session per month for 3 consecutive months. We recommend that this treatment is repeated after 6 months to help maintain results.

Aftercare Advice

The following aftercare advice is essential to help reduce the risk of treatment complications, to improve your comfort/healing and to help achieve the best possible results from your treatment:

• Avoid touching, rubbing or applying pressure to the treated area for at least 24 hours after treatment.

• Keep the area clean and dry.

• Avoid using hair products, such as gels or hairsprays, for at least 24 hours.

• Avoid tight hairstyles or hair accessories that may cause tension on the treated areas for at least 48 hours.

• Refrain from engaging in strenuous physical activities, such as intense workouts or sports for at least 48 hours following the treatment.

• Some people may experience minor side effects, such as redness, swelling or tenderness at the injection site. These should subside within a few days. If you experience severe pain, infection, or any other concerning symptoms, contact your practitioner immediately.

• Schedule a follow-up appointment with your practitioner to assess the results of the treatment and discuss any additional treatments or maintenance needed.
